Fiction

I write nearly everything - articles, novels, short fiction, scripts, screenplays, poetry, game narratives and role playing game systems and settings. Most of my work falls under the broad category of 'speculative fiction'; usually fantasy and science fiction of the slightly odd and rather dark persuasion, and the occasional speculative horror piece. I'm currently working on two novels (one is in the sin-bin until it stops being petulant), an RPG system, a video game narrative and a half-dozen short stories.

Shadowren

Shadowren is my current novel, a dark epic fantasy set in a doomed world. There's walking dead, a monster that can devour anything, a girl with magic she daren't use and an enslaved conman who's way out of his depth. It's currently at draft-zero, which means I'm throwing writing on the page and seeing what makes a plot.

Poetry

Poetry is a format I rarely turn to; my ideas are usually more readily expressed as a short story or novel. But there are some things you can't talk about without the grace of metaphor. My poetry tends to be far more realist than the rest of my work, though the imagery still has a surrealist or speculative slant.
